The institution’s library collection consists of approximately 5,000 books, both fiction and
non-fiction. They are numbered and placed on shelves according to the Dewy Decimal
System of classification. Books are checked out for one week and may be renewed for a
second week. Newspapers, magazines, and reference books may be used only in the library.

FCI Fort Worth has an interlibrary loan agreement with the Fort Worth Public Library
which allows inmates to borrow books which are not available at the institution. Inmates
housed in the SHU have access to Law Library materials in accordance with policy and may
check out books from the collection in the SHU Inmate Law Library. Inmates in the SHU
and the Jail Unit may request other materials by Form 70 through the Education
Representative on their regular weekly visits.
