Institution Chaplains provide pastoral care to inmates. Chaplains are available to assist the inmate with any pastoral concern he may have. This is usually thought to be with reference to the beliefs and practices of the inmate’s religion. However, beyond scheduling religious activities, Chaplains are available for consultation. Chaplains are available to assist inmates in any way they are able to, within their limits of jurisdiction. Because of this, Chaplains would like inmates to feel free to approach them at any time. All religious activities are open to any inmate in the general population.
Pastoral care consists of assisting inmates in the following areas: religious apparel and diets; religious literature and materials (audio tapes, video tapes, etc.); and community outreach ministries.
